John Grotenhuis ~ At Guelph General Hospital on Sunday, July 27, 2014, Mr. Johan ‘John’ Christiaan Grotenhuis of Harriston, in his 86th year. Beloved husband of Wilhelmina (Willy) Grotenhuis for 58 years. Dear father of Everett Grotenhuis and his wife Dorothy of R.R.3, Palmerston, Betty Bannerman and her husband Jeff of Listowel, and Neil Grotenhuis and his wife Holly of Mount Forest, and father-in-law of Shelley Grotenhuis of Abbotsford, B.C., and Carolyn Grotenhuis of Harriston. Proud grandfather of Lisa and Jared Unruh, John Grotenhuis, Don Grotenhuis, Stephanie Grotenhuis, Melissa Grotenhuis, Katie Grotenhuis and her fiancé Brandon, Daryl and Patricia Grotenhuis, Shawn and Kelly Grotenhuis, Tim Grotenhuis, Tyler Bannerman, Jessica Bannerman, Ashley Bannerman, Travis Bannerman, Nathan Grotenhuis and his fiancée Kailey, and Danielle Grotenhuis. Great-grandfather of Samantha, Travis, Bryce, and Joel Unruh, Seth, Aaron, and Jesse Grotenhuis, and Maddox and Emmett Grotenhuis. Survived by his brothers Willem Grotenhuis of Holland and Chris Grotenhuis of Harriston. Predeceased by his sons John and William, and by sisters and brothers in Holland. Visitation will be held at the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Knox-Calvin Presbyterian Church, Harriston, on Friday, August 1st at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Kathy Morden officiating. Interment in Harriston Cemetery. Memorial donations to Knox-Calvin Presbyterian Church, or Palmerston & District Hospital would be appreciated.
