Lorne Edward Moore, of Caressant Care, Harriston and formerly of Palmerston, peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, August 6, 2015 after a lengthy battle with Parkinson Disease. Beloved husband of the late Jean (McGuire) Moore, and loving father of Gary Moore and his wife Faye of Holstein, Linda Bean and and her husband Lindsay of Drayton, Brian Moore and and his wife Gail of St. Marys, and the late Kenneth Moore and his late wife Yvonne of Hanover. Loving grandfather of Brent Moore of Mount Forest, Dana St. Pierre of Grand Valley, Treena McClelland and Marc Desautels of Waubaushene, Lyle and Joanne Moore of White Rock, B.C., Douglas Moore of Toronto, Jennifer Moore of Kitchener, and Lesley and John Pedlar of Flesherton. Sadly missed by his great-grandchildren Rachel Whetham, Chantel Moore, Riley Moore, Reese Pedlar, Sam Pedlar, Jake St. Pierre and Griffin St. Pierre, by Jean Hunt’s family, and by his nieces, nephews and friends. Lorne was predeceased by his dear friend Jean Hunt, by his mom and dad Ernie and Ruth Moore, his brother Ross Moore, and his sister Shirley Small. Lorne was raised on a farm in Minto Township and attended Norwell High School. During World War II, he served in the RCAF as a Flight Lieutenant in the Bomber Command. Upon leaving the RCAF, he settled with his wife Jean and young son in Walters Falls where he owned and operated a general store and egg grading station. After a few years they moved to Palmerston where he and Jean were owners of L.E. Moore Home Hardware. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Blair Masonic Lodge and Palmerston United Church. A private family service will be held with interment in Palmerston Cemetery. Memorial donations to Palmerston and District Hospital would be appreciated and may be made through the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston.
