DONALDSON, Reta - God took 'The Best Mother Ever' home to finally be with our father again. They will have a great time catching up on the marriages and grandchildren he missed in the passed 23 years. Reta Catherine (Yenssen) Donaldson passed away peacefully at her home in Harriston, with her family by her side, on Saturday, April 21, 2007, after a short bout of pancreatic cancer. Reta was born in Normanby Township on March 14, 1933, to Norman and Lillie Yenssen. She married Thomas Stephen Donaldson on April 21, 1954, and together they farmed in Minto Township until 1983 when their oldest son took over the farm. Tom passed away in the fall of 1983 and Reta moved to Harriston where she enjoyed her many coffee friends, card parties, bingos, and social outings. Loved mother to Steven and Marlene Donaldson and their daughters Angela and Amanda, and Sheila and Don Grein and their children Nathan, Kelly and Rod Gagnon (of Fergus), and Nigel, all of MInto, Mary and Gerald Grein and their sons Adam and Tyler of Ayton, Paul and Alice Donaldson and their daughters Tania, Tabatha and Cassandra of Brampton, and Peter and Pauline Donaldson and their daughters Lisa and Tracy of Iona Station. Sister of Valera Dickert of Hanover, Hilda Russwurm and her husband Lincoln, Marion Russell and her husband Elmer, and Dolores McCannell and Ian Kirk, all of Walkerton, and sister-in-law of Ruth Yenssen of Mildmay, and Murray and Carol Donaldson of Howick. Predeceased by her parents, her brother Carl Yenssen, and her brother-in-law Vernon Dickert. Friends may call at the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held from St. John's Lutheran Church, Clifford on Tuesday, April 24th at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Harriston Cemetery. A Royal Canadian Legion Auxiliary memorial service will be held Monday evening at 6:45 p.m. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. 'God blessed us with her loving presence for 74 years and now we have given her back to him. We will have our memories until we meet again.'
