In Loving Memory of Nancy Buhr (nee Collins) 1949 – 2014 It is with heartfelt sadness that the family announces her sudden passing at Health Sciences North, Sudbury on Thursday, May 8th, 2014 at the age of 65 years. Beloved wife and best friend for 44 years of Ken, and cherished mother of Andrea (Andrew) Wilson of Kitchener, ON. Loving grandmother of Finley Wilson of Kitchener, ON. Nancy is also survived by her parents; John and Margaret Collins of Guelph, ON (formerly of Kapuskasing) and her siblings; Pat (Trudy) Collins of Whitby, ON, Peggy Anne (Kenn) Endean of Kapuskasing, ON, and John (Maureen) Collins, of Fergus, ON as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Nancy lived briefly in Fauquier, memorably in Mattice and formatively in Kapuskasing. She studied at University of Waterloo and Queen’s University achieving her B.A., B.Ed. (1976). Her career as a teacher began at Joseph H. Kennedy in 1974, included time spent at Shillington Public and Iroquois Falls Public School and Iroquois Falls Secondary School. Her last 16 years with the school board were spent as Principal of Cochrane High School. She was also very involved in the community. She was a founding member of Iroquois Falls Community Choir, and was its accompanist for the last few years. She has been a member of the Timmins Symphony Chorus, a long time organist at St Anne’s Roman Catholic Parish, a treasurer of the Abitibi Golf Club, a Business Girls Curler, a member of the Porquois Cross Country Ski Club, an Iroquois Falls Lions Music Festival secretary, and an active player in the local duplicate bridge club. Nancy was also involved in her professional organizations including the FWTAO and the OPC. She was a world traveller, and an accomplished driver in foreign lands. Family and friends may call at St. Anne’s Catholic Church on Saturday, May 24th, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. for a Celebration of her Life officiated by the Reverend Father Léo Rancourt. Family and friends may also attend a service at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel (1099 Gordon Street, Guelph (519)-821-5077) on Saturday June 7th, 2014 for visitation with family from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. followed immediately by a Remembrance and Celebration of her Life at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cochrane High School Scholarship Fund or to a charity of your choice and would be appreciated by the family.
