Orest Vlaad

In Loving Memory of Mr. Orest Vlaad 1926 - 2012 It is with great sadness that the family announces his death in his home on Friday October 12, 2012 at the age of 86 years. Cherished Husband and Best Friend of 64 years of Helen (nee Gamble) and Beloved Father of Donna (Larry) Porter, Linda (Ramie) Morin, and Valerie Morin (Dave Wilson). His memory will be forever held in the hearts of his Grandchildren; Kiera (Adam) Gagnon, Trevor (Diane) Morin, Travis (Manon) Morin, Kristopher Morin, and Kayla (Jeramy Ens) Morin as well as his Great Grandchildren; Meadow & Summer Gagnon, Parker, Ethan, Haley, & Sydney Morin, and Ben & Weston McKnight. Orest is also survived by his Brother Bill Vlaad, his Brother-in-Law John Howard, his Sisters-in-Law; June Gamble, Noella Gamble, and Jeanne Gamble as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his Parents William & Julia Vlaad, his ‘Uncle Nick Kostachuk’, his Grandson Kraig Porter, his Sisters Laura Gauthier and Doreen Howard, his Son-In-Law Randy Morin, and his Brothers and Sisters-in-Law; Doris Pigeau, Shirley Sopchyshyn, Peggy Vlaad, Marlene Gamble, Jean Gamble, Ethel Loucks, Bill Gamble, Ivan Gamble, Mervin Gamble, Gordon Gamble, Lawrence Gamble, Edsel Pigeau, Gaston Gauthier, Vernon Sopchyshyn and Earl Loucks. Orest was an avid sports fan and fisherman and was a proud Veteran and Member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 65 years. Friends and family may call at Abitibi Funeral Services on Tuesday October 16, 2012 from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M. followed by a Celebration of his Life at 3:00 p.m. with the Reverend Father Phelon Scanlon officiating.
