The Late Honourable Isobel Lorna Finnerty Obituary

In Memory of The Late Honourable Isobel Finnerty (nee Church) 1930-2016 It is with both sadness and gladness that the family announces her death on October 3rd, 2016 at Anson General Hospital, Iroquois Falls at the age of 86 years. Loving Wife of almost 60 yrs, of Les. Cherished Mother of Lorne (Debbie Foll) Finnerty of Barrie, and John Finnerty of Burlington. Her memory will be forever in the hearts of her grandchildren Jeff Foll and Erin Finnerty. She is also survived by her Brother Dr. Barry Neil Church Ph.D as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Isobel was predeceased by her Parents Lawrence and Grace Church, her siblings; Thomas Church, Gertrude Farrish, Evelyn James, Corrine Miller CM and Ross Church. Isobel was involved in Municipal, Provincial and Federal politics for almost 70 years. She served both the Canadian Senate (Mcinnis Lake, Timmins 1999-2005), appointed by The Right Honourable Jean Chrétien as well as the National Democratic Institute aiding international communities and countries in organizing just and democratic elections. Family and Friends are invited to raise a glass in Isobels memory on May 21 at the Burlington Golf and Country Club and on July 16 at the family cottage on Mcinnis Lake. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Liberal Party of Canada or to a charity of your choice and would be appreciated by the family.
