February 9, 1925 - July 9, 2013 Dr. Douglas Burwell Guest, passed away peacefully in his 89th year. Pre-deceased by his loving wife, Janet, of nearly 55 years, Doug is survived by his caring family who miss both dearly. These include their children Peter (Jo-Anne), Dick (Charlene), John and Susan (Maurice Gould); grandchildren Melissa (Rob Taylor) Haleigh (Ryan), Scott, Brett (Marilyn), Alex, Jackie, Stephanie; and great-grandchildren Carleigh and Brandon. Doug will be remembered for his devotion to his family, the care he took of so many patients over nearly 5 decades of medical practice in Renfrew, and the close friends with whom he shared a passion for the outdoors. The family is grateful for the exceptional, respectful and compassionate care given by staff at both the Renfrew Victoria Hospital and the Ottawa Heart Institute throughout the period of his health care needs. In particular, the family is blessed to have had the passionate and unwavering medical care and friendship of his doctor, Dr. Donald Kemp. As with his wife, Janet, Doug expressed a wish to not have visitation, funeral or memorial services. Instead the family is planning a "Celebration of Lives" for both Janet and Doug - to be held at the Renfrew Legion, Branch 148, 30 Raglan St. South, Renfrew, on Friday August 9, 2013 from 6-10 pm.
