OATES, Ethel Janet With her family at her side, Ethel Oates (nee Ostrom) passed away peacefully on March 11, 2010 in her 81st year. Cherished wife for 53 years of Curry, beloved mother of Donna (Paul Bélisle) and the late Donald. Survived by brother Carl (Alice) of Calumet Island, predeceased by sisters Inez Maheral (Elwood) and Daisy Wallace (Norman) and by brothers Lloyd (Jean), Donald and Asa (Madelaine). A life member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a tireless volunteer for many causes, Ethel will be remembered for her feisty spirit, her love of music and her sense of humour. Friends may call at McPhail and Perkins Funeral Home, 85 Munro Avenue E., Renfrew on Sunday, March 14 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm (Eastern Star service at 6:45 pm), and Monday from 12:45 – 1:30 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Trinity St. Andrews United Church, 291 Plaunt Street, Renfrew on Monday at 2 pm. Spring interment at Rosebank Cemetery. Special thanks to Bonnechere Manor staff for providing tender care, and to June and Shirley for their constant support over the past year. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or Trinity St. Andrews United Church would be appreciated.
