Lorraine Audrey Selle Killaloe, Ontario Obituary

Lorraine Audrey Selle

Lorraine passed away at home on March 25, 2021 while battling cancer and diabetes in her 75th year. She was the dearly beloved wife of Reginald Selle in their 54th year of marriage. She was the loved and cherished mother of Trevor (Heidi Mitchell) of Deep River, and Kyle of North Bay, and was the devoted grandmother of Finley and Jasper. Lorraine was an only child born to Emerson and Edna Seigel of Golden Lake on January 25, 1946. She started her teaching career in Elliot Lake, got married to Reginald on August 5, 1966 at the age of 20, and moved to Sudbury for a few years before they settled and built their own home near Whitefish. Lorraine spent the bulk of her 33-year career in the kindergarten classroom at Robert H. Murray Public School in Whitefish where she touched hundreds of lives with her kindness and firm but fair demeanor. Lorraine spent every summer at the family cottage on Golden Lake, where she enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and laughing with friends and family. She canvassed for donations to the Canadian Cancer Society every year for 27 years, raising thousands to help fund research to find treatments for a disease that ultimately claimed her own life. Due to covid restrictions, Lorraine will be cremated and a funeral service and celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Zohr Family Funeral Home, Eganville. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of Lorraine.
