Rita Gertrude Mask (nee Lepinskie) of Killaloe, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2020, at Madawaska Valley Hospice, Barry’s Bay. Rita was in her 92nd year, born on November 15, 1928. Predeceased by her dearly loved husband, Louis Mask (2013), who she married on September 14, 1948 in Sacred Heart Church in Combermere. She was the much loved mother of Shirley Connolly (Tom), Marlene Sernoskie (Ron Baird), Christine "Teenie" Mask (Pat Wyse), Danny Mask (Bonnie) and Pamela Kassis (Ted). Sadly missed by her nine grandchildren: Tracy Kehoe (Troy), Sarah Shulist (Pete Gore), Joe Shulist (Heakyoung Jung), Karen Wenzel (Dustin), Jeff Connolly (Danielle Rodier), Emily and Dylan Mask, Brandon and Cameron Kassis; her great grandchildren: Craig Sernoskie (Jane), Jake, Joel and Ashley Kehoe, Eloise Shulist, William Gore, Maggie Lou Shulist, Alex and Ben Connolly and Betty Wenzel. Rita is survived by her sisters, Theresa Coulas, Ann Higgins (Frank), Lucille Lepinskie and brothers, Martin Lepinskie (Maureen) and John Lepinskie (Linda); also by her sisters-in-law, Barbara Mayville and Sally Mask and brothers-in-law, Alex Mask (Anna Mary), Edmund Mask (Rosemarie) and Jim Mask (Linda). Predeceased by her parents, Michael Lepinskie (1993) and Florence Andrecheck (1936) and step mother, Blanche Scholes (2003), her brother, Michael Lepinskie (1959), sister, Irene Shulist (2019), brothers-in-law, Tony Shulist (2014), Bob Coulas (2016), Pat Mask (2015) and Wilfred Mayville (2017). She will also be missed by many other relatives and friends. Rita had an unassuming dignity and even though she never sought the limelight, she was her family’s shining light. She had a great love for them and they for her. Kind and gentle, with a strong faith in God and a deep spirituality, she found happiness in the simple joys of life. Rita lived a long and healthy life, fit as a fiddle from all the hard work she did on the farm – she got great satisfaction from tending her vegetable gardens, working on farm chores with Louis, keeping an immaculate house and having delicious meals for family and friends. Rita's final care has been entrusted to Zohr Family Funeral Home, Killaloe. Due to COVID-19 concerns, there will be no funeral and a private interment held at St. Casimir’s Cemetery, Round Lake Centre. A memorial mass and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date when it is safer to do so and more of her family and friends will be able to attend. Donations in honour of her life may be made to St Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation. Tributes, condolences and donations may be made online at www.zohrfuneralhome.com
