CROCKFORD, Stella Avis (nee Walker) Stella Avis Crockford passed away Fri., Dec. 8 at Caressant Care Nursing Home, Cobden, Ontario at the age of 94. . She was born, raised and married in Hamilton and spent almost 60 years in Hanover, Ontario. She was active in the Hanover Hospital Auxiliary, HARC House and the Hanover Public Library. She loved to knit, sew, garden and read. She stayed active in curling, cross-country skiing, bicycling and hiking. She has left a legacy of curiosity, independent thinking, physical activity, creativity and love of nature to her large family. Avis was predeceased by her husband Glendon Kenneth Crockford and her sister Noreen. Gram will be lovingly remembered by her four children, Christine (Bill) Berry, Margaret (Dennis) Schneider, Jennifer (Martin Vanderkwaak) and Gordon (Barb), her brother Bill Walker and sister Shirley McHattie, her sister-in-law Norma Bustard, her eight grandchildren and her thirteen great-grandchildren. A celebration of her life is planned for early July. Memorials may be made to the Hanover and District Hospital or HARC, Inc.
