Gordon Linklater

Linklater, Gordon Douglas - Peacefully at Belmont House in Toronto on Sunday, September 15, 2013 in his 88th year. Beloved husband of Joan Linklater (née Cochrane). Dear brother of Bryce (Alma) Linklater of Jarvis. Predeceased by his brothers Harold (Nora) Linklater and Ken Linklater. Also survived by his sister-in-law Reita Linklater of Kincardine. He will also be missed by his nieces and nephews. Born on January 18, 1926 in Teeswater, Ontario. Gordon was a graduate from the University of Western Ontario with an Honours Degree in Math & Science. He spent approximately 10 years in Marine Insurance in Management based in Toronto & New York. Relocating to Toronto he was invited to join the American Growth Fund. This was the industry he most enjoyed. Later on he operated his own small company until retirement in 1976. Gordon enjoyed and was accomplished in many sports including skiing, tennis and golf. Tragically in the late 1990’s he was overcome by Alzheimer Disease and was cared for in a nursing home in Toronto. Visitation will be held at Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, 757 Princes St, Kincardine, Ontario, N2Z 1Z5 519-396-2701, on Thursday, September 19, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Jim Weir officiating. Interment, Kincardine Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
