John "Ernie" Brooks

Following a long and courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia, John " Ernie" Brooks passed away on Tuesday, July 1st, 2014 in Victoria, BC. Born in Kincardine, Ernie moved to London, Ontario after high school. He worked in the office of Ford Motor Co., at the St. Thomas Assembly Plant for 33 years. In 2001 he retired with his wife to Victoria, British Columbia where he spent the last years of his life. He enjoyed curling and hiking but fishing for salmon when his son came to visit was his favourite. He also did many special things with his daughter when she came to live on the west coast. Ernie is survived by his loving wife Eileen of over 43 years; son David; daughter Gillian and Kevin; and 2 brothers, Doug (Ruth Ann) and Gerry (Linda). Visitation will be held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home in Kincardine, on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Jeanette Fleischer officiating. Interment, Kincardine Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society or Parkinson Society would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
