Margaret MacDonald of Kincardine and formerly of Toronto passed away at Trillium Court on Monday, June 26th, 2017 at the age of 98. Cherished daughter of the late Donald and Jesse (née McFadyen) MacDonald. Predeceased by her brother Donald. Raised with her Scottish immigrant grandparents, her parents and younger brother Donald in the house her grandparents built, one of the very first in Tiverton, Ontario. As a young woman, she left to study nursing in Hamilton. Initially a nurse in homes for individuals, she eventually took specialized training including training in New York and became the Head Nurse at Lyndhurst Lodge, Sunnybrook Hospital, Toronto. She dedicated her professional life to the care of those with spinal injuries or requiring rehabilitation. She always kept Bruce County and her Scottish heritage close to her heart. She returned “home” for weekends and vacations, and enjoying fiddling parties, her Presbyterian Church, raising kittens to the delight of her young cousins, marching behind the Kincardine Scottish, and injecting a little Gaelic into her conversation with humour and an ever present welcoming twinkle in her eye. Devoted to her friends and family, Margaret’s cup was always half full. Margaret was cared for with kindness, compassion and fun by the wonderful staff and volunteers at Trillium Court, Kincardine. Her "wonderful" Dr. Gurbin, and Al Tulloch and family until her death, for which her family is deeply grateful. She leaves behind many memorable stories and will be missed by generations of devoted cousins and many friends. Visitation will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, Tiverton on Tuesday, July 4th, 2017 from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by the funeral service to celebrate Margaret’s life at 11:30 a.m., with Rev. Ruth MacLean officiating. Interment Tiverton Cemetery.
