Marian Hammond

Hammond, Marian Grace, of Kincardine, passed away at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre-Kincardine, on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 in her 87th year. Beloved daughter of the late Arnold and Lyda (Abbs) Hammond. Dear sister of Jean Hammond of Kincardine and sister-in-law of Helen Hammond of Port Elgin. Predeceased by her brothers, George and Wallace and her sister-in-law Jean. Sadly missed by several cousins. Marian attended S.S. #14 Bruce Township, Paisley Continuation School and business college in Owen Sound. She worked as a secretary at Circle Bar Knitting Mill and then at the Kincardine Hospital, where she was instrumental in developing the medical records department. She was employed there for over 20 years until her retirement in 1989. Marian enjoyed entertaining, play cards and music with her friends. She was a faithful member of Chalmers Church. Visitation will be held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine, on Thursday, July 31, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., where the funeral service will take place on Friday, August 1, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Brian Martin officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Jim Convay, Graham Ball, Kenneth Craig, Jack Janzen, Glen Cowan and Bill Geddes. Flowerbearers, Carrie Keeling and Susan Greig. Interment, Sanctuary Park Cemetery, Port Elgin. Memorial donations to the Kincardine Hospital Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
