Obituary for Meribeth Helen Lamont

Lamont, Meribeth Helen (née Miller) (R.N.-Graduate of Belleville General Hospital), passed away peacefully with family and friends by her side at Southampton Care Centre on Friday, January 13, 2012 in her 81st year. Beloved wife of the late Ross Lamont. Dear mother of Steven Lamont of Brampton. Grandmother of Stephanie O'Connell of London. Predeceased by her son David. She will be greatly missed by her sister-in-law Pauline Flynn (née Lamont) of Ottawa, who was not just a sister-in-law, but a dear friend. What wonderful memories of their times spent at Blair’s Grove, their trips together with Ross and Henry (Hank) – Pauline’s husband. Meribeth will be fondly and lovingly missed by her cousins, nieces and nephews and her many friends and colleagues. The friendships she cherished the most, were those of the Thomas family. The late Vic Thomas, his wife Irene, and their five wonderful children (Brent, Dayle, Lori, Vickie and Julie) showed their love, kindness and support, particularly during her later years, made Meribeth feel as though she was always surrounded by family. In addition, Ross and Meribeth’s dear friend Fred Janke (his late wife Estelle) of Kitchener, had a friendship that they valued deeply. They had great memories of their times together, their wedding day being one of them. Meribeth will also be sadly missed by her nephew Brady (Tara), her nieces Maureen and Jennifer (Peter), with whom she had a very special relationship and she often considered them to be like her own. We will miss her lovely smile and wonderful sense of humour. Special thanks to those involved in providing such good care during the last five years namely: Elgin Lodge, Grey Bruce Health Services-Southampton, Brucelea Haven and Southampton Care Center. Visitation will be held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home on Tuesday January 17, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m., with Eva Wilken officiating. Interment, Kincardine Cemetery. Memorial donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. A service of remembrance will also be held at Blair’s Grove this summer.
