Flieger, Donald: Passed away at Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at the age of 81. Don is survived by his loving wife, Kay, and children Susan (Jim), Wendy (Bill), Rick (Diana), Denis (Karen), Jerry (Diane) Michael (Brenda), Nina and Nora and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents, Stanley and Ethel, four sisters and three brothers. Don volunteered in the Canadian Army in 1949, serving for 20 years in Egypt, Europe and two tours in Korea. He was a longtime member of the Korea Veterans Association Unit #52 K-W, holding many positions, including two years as National President, 1996-1998. Don was also a member of the Army, Navy and Airforce Association Unit #247, Kitchener for 12 years. Don’s family will receive relatives and friends at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467 on Saturday February 11, 2012 from 1 – 1:45 PM followed by a funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 2PM. Reception to follow. Cremation to take place. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
