Daub, Shirley: It is with great sadness that our family shares the passing of Shirley (nee Herzog) Daub, on March 7, 2021, at her home in Waterloo, age 79. Shirley will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 55 years, Charles, and her children Shelley, Jeffrey (Sara), Tracey and Kevin (Sheryl). She will be greatly missed by her 9 grandchildren: Ethan, Simon, Kennedy, Easton, Abbey, Brawn, Raine, Mason and Liam. She will be fondly remembered as an incredible sister and friend to Karen (Dave) and loving sister-in-law to Donna (John), and Pat. Her nieces and nephews have many warm memories of Aunt Shirley. She was predeceased by her parents, Anthony and Claire Herzog and her brothers, Bill and Ron. Shirley’s greatest joy was her family; she forever championed the wide array of talents found amongst her children and grandchildren. Invariably, there she’d be, in the stands, cheering on whoever was on the ice or in the pool or on the stage. She was a warm and vibrant hostess, making everyone who came to the house feel welcome. It was never too much trouble to set an extra place for dinner and she was only too happy to offer up an extra serving of her incredible baking. When the children were in their teens, the Daub house was everyone’s favourite place to stop in for a visit and a bite to eat. A boundless source of energy, Shirley was always on the go. She took a genuine interest in everyone she met, paying attention to their particular likes and interests. She would never forget to ask about the goings on in people’s lives. She was great fun to be around; laughter was always a part of a good, long chat with Shirley. You could always count on her to give you her honest opinion, but you could also count on her kindness and her support to go with it. Friends and family can come together to remember Shirley from 4 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener. Private Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Those wishing to attend Shirley's visitation must RSVP through the funeral home website or by calling 519-749-8467.
