Smidt, Stjepan Passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 15, 2017 at Freeport Hospital at the age of 80. Beloved husband of Ljubica. Loving father of Steven (Melanie), Kathy (Michael), and Elizabeth (Joseph). Cherished grandfather of Michael and Jakob. Dear brother of Antun (Marica) and Drago Carl (Stefanie), and cousin to John and Mike Karaturovic. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and godchildren. Stjepan was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and godfather. He was born in Croatia and immigrated to Canada in 1970. Intelligent, considerate, and humble, he was a man of his word and was always willing to help others. Dedicated to his family, he enjoyed the simple things in life, and was a founding member of the KW Croatia Club and Holy Family RC Parish. Stjepan’s family will receive relatives and friends from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on July 18, 2017 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Holy Rosary will be offered at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Croatian Church, 180 Schweitzer Street Kitchener on July 19, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at Parkview Cemetery.
