Sheila Joan Boyce Obituary

It is with sadness and love that family and friends say goodbye to Sheila Joan Boyce (née Davis), who died in Milton District Hospital of complications related to COVID-19 on Monday, April 19, 2021. Sheila was born at home, on June 29, 1941, in Bishopton, Quebec, to her parents Dorine Esther Davis (née Gilbert) and Milton (Mike) David Davis, of East Angus, Quebec. She was the third of Dorine and Mike's four children: Donna Marilyn (Sherbrooke, Quebec), Garold Trevor (deceased) Sheila Joan, Brian Frederick (Canada / Mexico) Sheila went to Elementary School in Bishopton, and High School in Cookshire, Quebec. She continued her education in Montreal, Quebec, where she graduated on May 22, 1961 from the Salvation Army Catherine Booth Hospital's School of Nursing, with a certification in 'Gynecological Obstetrical Nursing and Care of Infants'. While in Montreal, Sheila was introduced to James Theodore Boyce, of New Brunswick. James and Sheila first met each other on a blind date, at a New Year's Eve party, in 1960, arranged by Sheila's friend Eileen. Sparks flew and Sheila and James were married on May 26, 1962, at the Bishopton Anglican Protestant Church in Bishopton, Quebec. A reception followed at the Rolling Hills Motel in North Hatley, Quebec. They honeymooned in New Brunswick, while they drove out to introduce Sheila to James' family. During their 59 years of marriage, they had Five children: Deborah Joan (divorced of Warren Latter) Cindy Ellen (married to Axel Romberg) Jeffrey Stephen (married to Frances Notarianni) Gregory James (separated from Martine Trudelle) Shane Kenneth (deceased 2012, widow Kaye Chen). And celebrated ten grandchildren: Of Deborah and Warren: Samantha (married to Matthew Pennells), Alexandra (married to Joel Fader) Of Cindy and Axel: Luke, Carl Of Jeffrey and Frances: Sara Of Gregory and Martine: Noah, Arianne Of Shane and Kaye: Zoe, Nia, Tao And this year, they proudly celebrated the birth of their first great grandchild: Of Samantha (née Latter) and Matthew Pennells: David James Oliver. Sheila took a great deal of pride in her family, and in her home. She loved flowers, especially snapdragons and lilacs. She showed her love by 'doing' for others, and was still trying to look after James until her last breath. When she lost her youngest son, Shane, to cancer in 2012, she declared she did not want to outlive any more of her children. We know in our hearts, Shane was there at heaven's gate, waiting to lead her to her new forever home. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations in memory of Sheila to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
