Annie Baker Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Annie Baker (Etchells). Born in Oldham England 1918, she moved to Canada when she was 3 years old. She was the resident of Meadows Long Term Care Centre. Annie passed away in her 89th year, on Saturday, November 17, 2007 at McMaster Hospital, Hamilton. Beloved wife of the late Horace Medwin Baker. Loving mother to Joanne McKinnell and her husband Jerry, Gerry Baker and his wife Sandy. Cherished Grandmother of Stephen McKinnell and his wife Linda, Janice Peters and her husband Ron, Kevin McKinnell and his wife Aileen, Sandra Santos and her husband Jose Luis, Charmaine Baker, Stephen Baker and his wife Lorie, Sean Baker and his wife Kris, and Bradley Baker. Annie had 10 lovely great-grand children. Fondly remembered by her sister-in-law Anne Baker, by her nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by her parents Alice and Thomas Etchells, her sisters Gladys and Alice, and by her brother Roland. Annie was a long time member of The Order of the Amaranth from Hamilton, and the Eastern Star in Haliburton. Annie and Horry owned Baker Appliance Service in Hamilton for many years and then retired to Minden, where they enjoyed the Minden Legion and the curling clubs. They enjoyed their time fishing and enjoying the outdoors for many years until Horry took sick. The family will receive friends and relatives to share their memories of Annie at the Gordon A. Monk Funeral Home Ltd., 127 Main St., P.O. Box 427, Minden K0M 2K0 on Friday, December 7, 2007 at 1:00 pm. Reception to follow at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 636 Minden. Cremation has taken place and her remains are to be scattered with Horry. Memorial Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 636, Minden would be appreciated by the family. Thank you, to all the special people in Minden and Ancaster. Special thanks to Nurse Tina, P.A’s Doris, Diane, Mary and her long time neighbors Lois, Dorothy, Ethel and Howard. There are so many to thank at The Meadows Long Term Care, all the staff on Fieldcote, Annie kept you all hopping and laughing with all her jokes and funny stories. The program office staff Holli and Melissa. Norma she gave you her special angel, wear it always and think of Annie. Annette and Eve, you are very special people going that extra mile for someone, and to her long time table partners Madeline, Helen (predeceased) and Anita she is gone now but not forgotten. How could anyone forget Annie? She is at peace now. She is all around you, especially in your heart and in your memories. The McKinnell and The Baker families thank you from the bottom of our hearts and will remember you all fondly. Annie and Horry are now off to a great fishing trip in the north.
