Adriana Leenaars Schoots (nee Timmermans) October 11, 1922 – June 27, 2017 Adriana passed away peacefully in Mississauga in her 95th year after a short illness. Beloved wife of the late John Schoots from 1973 to 2007 and previously of the late John Leenaars (1949 to 1970). Dearest mum to Rene Leenaars (Janet), Peter Leenaars (Susan Knox) and Petra Schoots Giudice (Mike). Oma/Grandma was so proud of her grandchildren Robert (Lisa), Andrea, Christina, Joanna, Jessica (Andy) and Gerome; as well as her great grandchildren Kasey, Emma, Samantha, Aaron, Jacob, and Danika. Adriana and John Leenaars were both born in the village of Dongen in the Netherlands. They emigrated with their children, Rene and Peter, to Port Credit in March, 1955, and proudly made Canada their life-long home where they continuously hosted visits from their numerous friends and relatives at both their home and cottage in Muskoka. They were founding members of St. Christopher’s Church in Clarkson. Together they established a successful gardening and landscaping business that is owned and managed today by Rob Leenaars, their grandson. Adriana was an outgoing, cheerful and positive person who loved life and enjoyed interacting with family, friends and acquaintances. She gave back to her community through her church as well as by volunteering for many organizations such as the cancer society, the arthritis society, knitting mitts and hats for the underprivileged and assisting seniors at a local seniors’ home for many years. Visitation and funeral service is at Skinner & Middlebrook Funeral Home, 128 Lakeshore Rd. E, Mississauga on Wednesday July 5th at 10:00 a.m. and funeral at 11:00 a.m. ,followed by internment at St. Mary’s Cemetery and afterwards a light lunch at the Funeral Home.
