Denis Ryan Penney

PENNEY, Denis Ryan. Born in St. John’s Newfoundland on September 13, 1926. Passed peacefully on June 9, 2017 at Fosterbrook LTC in Newcastle where he had been living for the past year. Predeceased a short 6 weeks ago by his beloved wife and Angel From Heaven Ruth, to whom he had been married for 69 years. Cherished father to Denise (Tom Mackey), Debi (Mike Hearsum), and Janet Penney. A dear granddad to Matthew (Tegan), Cameron, and Jeffrey. Great grandy to Griffen and Eli. Survived by his dear brother Alphonsus Penney and remembered fondly by numerous nieces, nephews, brother and sisters-in-law, mostly for his sense of humour. Denis (aka Denis the Menace) always played the clown and worked endlessly to make people laugh – he leaves behind many stories and sayings that will live on forever (Hector!).
