McKay, John Palmer “Jack” – Member of Durham Lodge # 66 Passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa with his family by his side on Friday, March 20, 2015. Jack was born in Starkville in 1927, later in life he moved to Bronte where he ran a successful trucking business. In 1967 he returned to Starkville where he farmed the family homestead and drove a school bus for many years until his retirement in 2007. Jack, beloved husband of 69 years to Winnie (nee: Hughes). Loving father of Bonnie Miller of Toronto, Lynn MacNab and her husband Jim of Bronte. Proud grandfather of Tara Miller O’Donoghue (Aidan), Chris Miller (Alanna), Jonathan MacNab (Marcia), Jessi Matthie (Ben). Loved great-grandfather of Alexandra, Jacob, Abby, Isabella, and Madelynn. Dear brother of Bob McKay and his wife Daisy, predeceased by siblings; Helen Inglehart and her late husband George, Jim McKay who is survived by his wife Charlotte, Bud McKay who is survived by his wife Connie. Jack will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews and cousins. A visitation will be held at the Newcastle Funeral Home, 386 Mill Street S., Newcastle on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. Funeral service in the Chapel on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Interment at Trafalagar Lawn Cemetery, Oakville.
