John Scruton

It is with heavy hearts, that we announce the passing of John (Jack) Murray Scruton of St. Davids, Ontario on Saturday May 5 after a brief illness. Jack was 87 years old and is survived by his wife Dorothy (nee Turanski) whom he loved and adored throughout their 62 years of marriage. Jack's two surviving sisters are Marilyn Medlock of Oakville, ON and Margaret Hackenberry of Lancaster, PA. Jack had 3 children: Robert (Sharon), Marion (Mario) and Howard (Janice). Jack had 7 grandchildren: John, Elizabeth, Anna, Brittany, Courtney, Lindsay and Nathan, as well as, 6 great grandchildren Jude, Emma, Eli, Wesley, Evelyn and Jace. Over his lifetime, Jack was very involved with the Evangelical Christian movement, serving in positions throughout his local church and in various Christian ministries. His love for the Lord was evident as he was never ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Jack was an active sports participant and enthusiast. He excelled in high school football with Etobicoke Collegiate as a two-way city all-star. Hockey was his passion. The Leafs, Blue Jays and Argonauts were always the center of any conversation. Appreciation is given to Jack's physician, Dr. Zufelt, Carly Evangelista and staff and the medical professionals at the Walker Family Cancer Clinic in St. Catharines, Ontario Interment on Saturday May 26, 2018 at 10:00 am at Glendale Memorial Gardens (1810 Albion Road, Etobicoke) followed by a Celebration of Life at Richview Baptist Church (1548 Kipling Ave, Etobicoke) at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Samaritan's Purse and/or Hockey Ministries International would be appreciated.
