Barbara Jefferis

Barbara Ann Jefferis (nee Bell) March 16, 1939 – September 20, 2017 Born in Toronto to Edith and Lloyd Bell, Barbara spent most of her childhood in Coldwater, Ontario. However, the majority of her life was in the town of Newmarket. Barbara was the devoted wife of James Yule Jefferis, and loving mother to Jo-Anne Newland and Deena Balsdon. Missed by sons-in-law Jamie Newland and Robb Balsdon, she will be greatly missed by grandchildren Chris (Chandler), Brianne (Ben), Kyle (Holly), Jeffrey and Sheilagh. Barbara had her first hair salon called Barbara Ann’s in Midland when she was 17. While Deena and Jo-Anne were younger, Barbara stayed home and became very actively involved in Guiding. Barbara briefly returned to hair dressing and eventually became a fitness instructor in the Newmarket area. Starting out at Studio 187, she eventually had her own business (B&C Fitness) and ran classes for the Town of Newmarket. Barbara also worked as a fitness instructor for Persechini Fitness. In her later years, other than family, Barbara loved camping, travelling, going to movies, and with her husband Jim, she spent many hours tracing their family tree. Friends may call at Roadhouse and Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main St. S., Newmarket for visitation from 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm. A private family Internment will be held at the Waubaushene Cemetary, Waubaushene, Ontario. Memorial donations in Barbara’s name may be made to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, the Heart & Stroke Foundation, MS Society of Canada or Cancer Society.
