Alan Fice Oshawa, Ontario Obituary

Alan Fice

Fice, Alan Carl (December 12, 1934) It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of ALAN CARL FICE announce his sudden passing on Friday November 8, 2013 at the age of 78, at Peterborough Regional Health, after a short illness. He is predeceased by his first wife of 53 years, Nancy Kathaleen Rena Fice (Roberts) in 2007; parents Carl Cale Fice and Mary Irene Fice (Shortridge); sisters Joan Fice (Johnson) and Lynn Fice (Prince). Alan is survived by brothers Gary Fice (Judy) of Oshawa and Brian Fice (Lila) of Courtice. ALAN was a loving, dedicated and compassionate husband and father. He is survived by his dearly beloved wife, Judy Fice (Clement) of Fenelon Falls. He also leaves behind his cherished and loving children; daughter and son-in-law Pauline and Victor Galea of Janetville as well as daughter Joanne Racioppo and son Terry Fice, both of Young’s Point. ALAN was a respected and honoured Papa who enjoyed spending time with his many grandchildren including Daniel, Jenna, Joseph and Dayna Galea; Carl and his wife Jenn Racioppo (and his great grand-children Ryan, Mike and Joey); Nigel Racioppo, Brittany Fice, Mitchell Fice and Danette Pihlaja. ALAN was a huge presence in the lives of his sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was affectionately known as Uncle Al and Big Al. ALAN is also fondly remembered by the family and friends of his wife Judy Fice (Clement). Alan and Judy had recently celebrated their first anniversary but had been known to each other for many years as the connection between the Fice, Roberts and Clement families has spanned many decades. ALAN was a long-time resident of Oshawa and then of Bailieboro where he lived for many years on the Otonabee River. As a self-employed carpenter, he spent his life building, renovating and repairing homes and cottages all over southern Ontario. He was jovial, kind-hearted man who amassed numerous friends and acquaintances everywhere he went and worked, and will be missed by all who knew and admired him. He was an amazing speaker and entertained all who crossed his path with stories and jokes galore. We are truly blessed and thankful to have had Alan to share this life with us. Please join ALAN’S family in a celebration and sharing of his life at Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East, Oshawa on Wednesday November 13th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Thursday November 14th at 1 pm. Cremation to follow. Memorial donations to Palliative Care Lakeridge Health Oshawa or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. For online condolences please visit www.armstrongfuneralhome.net
