Lidster, Donald Robert (Original Member of the Korea Veteran’s Association Unit 11) – Passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the Ajax-Pickering Hospital, on Monday February 4, 2013 in his 86th year. Don was born in Oshawa on July 14, 1927. Beloved husband of 58 years to Kaye. Dear father of Bob, the late Rick (1990) and Kathy (2007). Grandpa will be truly missed by his loving granddaughters Crystal, Jessica and Jennifer and two great grandsons Aiden and Dakota. Brother of the late Carl Lidster and Bruce Lidster; Don was the patriarch of our family. We, who are left behind, are honoured to have known him as friend, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Don started his career as an electrician and ended with almost 38 years of service as an electrical designer for General Motors. In his younger years he was a petty officer in the Sea Cadets. Don was an avid sportsman who “loved animals, tolerated people.” Resting at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa with funeral service in the Chapel on Thursday February 7, 2013 at 1 p.m. with visitation starting at 12 noon. Cremation to follow. Memorial donations to the Humane Society of Durham Region would be appreciated, and may be made along with condolences by visiting; www.armstrongfuneralhome.net.
