Dr. Susanna Kesmarky Loubser

KESMARKY LOUBSER , (Dr.) SUSANNA Susanna passed away peacefully on Thursday December 30, 2010, in Oshawa, ON, in the company of her loving husband Leon. Born June 21, 1950 in Budapest, Hungary, she arrived in Canada in 1956, and grew up in Regina, SK, graduating from Campbell Collegiate. Susanna was an academic most of her life, studying at a variety of post secondary institutions. At Queen’s University she received a B. Sc. First Class Honors in Chemistry and Mathematics. At the University of Alberta, she did a M. Sc. in Geochemistry, and also received her M.D. there. Susanna did an internship in Internal Medicine and a residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Calgary. She also did fellowships in Orthopedic and Hand surgery at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, and at the University of Toronto, Sunnybrook Medical Centre. Susanna was on staff and head of Orthopedic Surgery at the North York Branson Hospital, and on courtesy staff at the York-Finch General Hospital. Since 1994, she was on the orthopedic staff at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. Predeceased by her mother Edith Hrabetz Kesmarky, she will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband Leon Loubser who cared for her with love and compassion through several years of illness. Also left to remember Susanna are stepsons Rob (Kathy, grandchildren Chloe and Max), Scott (Lisa) and Matthew, her father Martin Kesmarky, sister Klara Kesmarky Miller, nephews Tristan Miller, Noah Miller and Lukas Miller, as well as aunts, uncles and cousins in Hungary. Susanna loved to play golf, and enjoyed her last walk around the links this summer. There was always a special place in her heart for her many pets. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, sewing, photography and was a gifted pianist. Friends may call at the Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East, Oshawa on Thursday January6th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Please join the family for a celebration of Susanna’s life at a memorial service on Friday January 7th at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Susanna’s name to the RS McLaughlin Cancer Centre or Big Brothers & Sisters of Durham Region. “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal.”
