Frank Michael Devereaux Obituary

Devereaux, Frank Michael Passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Fairview Lodge, at the age of 77. Beloved husband of Mary Barbara (nee Wade) for 52 years. Loving Father of Frank (Amy) and Cory (Lydia). Cherished grandfather of Hayley Jane, Spencer, and Brandon. Dear brother of Mary Hawco (Nick), Rita Fitzgerald (Edward), James Devereaux (Florence), Teresa Marburger (Ray), Emmanual Devereaux (Edie), Rosella Byrne (Bill), Michael Devereaux (Jean), Bernice Dalton (Ed), Joe Devereaux (Geri) and Greg Devereaux (Babe). Dear brother-in-law of James Wade (Eileen), Johnny Wade (Dot), Catherine Croy (Lloyd), Regina Wade, Albert Wade (Rita), Mike Wade (Lena and Phoebe), Ray Wade (Mary), Clar Wade (Bertha), Leo Wade (Jose) and Gerald Wade. Predeceased by his parents Michael and Sarah Devereaux and parents-in-law John and Mary Jane Wade. He will also be fondly remembered by many cousins, nieces and nephews and sadly missed by his extended family and friends in Newfoundland and Labrador and Ontario. Frank was born in Newfoundland and Labrador and was a proud Newfoundlander even after moving to Oshawa, Ontario in 1986. Frank had a dedicated career as an ironworker for over 30 years in Locals 721 and 764. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Blue Jays. He enjoyed playing hockey, baseball and golf. He could remember sports stats from many years past. He was always up for a game of cards and was also known for being a trickster. He would remember and say many recitations, especially around the campfire at the trailer park. He loved to play guitar in his pastime, teaching both of his sons his musical talent. He had a love of food, often cooking up a feed of saltfish and never turning down sweets. Frank lived a faithful life as a Roman Catholic and would say “God love ya” to everyone. The family would like to thank the staff at Fairview Lodge, especially Marigold Lane for their care and compassion. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society. Online condolences may be left at www.armstrongfh.ca In Memory of Frank: We didn’t know that morning God was going to call your name. . . In life we loved you dearly, In death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, You did not go alone, For part of us went with you, The day God called you home. You left us beautiful memories, Your love is still our guide, And though we cannot see you, You are always by our side. Our family chain is broken, And nothing seems the same . . . But as God calls us one by one, The chain will link again.
