GAYNOLL LILLIAN KNAPP (nee Burton) December 25, 1939 – March 5, 2019 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Gaynoll (Gay) Lillian Knapp (nee Burton), in her 80th year, surrounded by family at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, on March 5th, 2019. Beloved wife of 59 years to Herbert. Loving mother of Catherine and Andrew Laudenbach, Jennifer and Philip Brown, and Kimberly Knapp and Ryan McDonnell. Cherished grandmother of Madeline, Emily, Alexander, Dylan and Emmett. Daughter of the late Bill and Eilean Burton of Kirkland Lake. Survived by sister Donna Moore and brother Harold Burton. Predeceased by brothers Garth Burton and Murray Burton. Gay connected with many people as an elementary and special education teacher in Oshawa for 35 years. She loved travel, golf, playing cards and swimming. Spending time with her family and friends gave her great joy and happiness. Gay’s kindness and genuine love for others was evident in her lifelong friendships, and in the way she treated those in her life. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A private family visitation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place Saturday, March 23rd, 2019, at Kedron Dells Golf Club, from 1 pm to 4 pm. Eulogy at 2 pm. Special thank you for the outstanding care and compassion provided by the doctors and nurses at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville and Oshawa. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society Durham Region would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
