Glenn Letheren Obituary

Glenn Alan Letheren was born August 31st, 1932 during a solar eclipse in Toronto, Ontario and died peacefully on April 25th, 2017 in Oshawa. Glenn left behind his loving wife, Ann of 58 years and his only daughter, Cheryl of London and three grandchildren, Andrea Stranges of Toronto, Danielle Stranges and Nicholas Stranges of London, Ontario who will miss him very much. Glenn was predeceased by his parents, Colin and Stella Letheren and his brother, Keith. Glenn worked for General Motors of Canada for 33 years and enjoyed working at the car shows, Mosport races and the Molson Indy as part of his work. Glenn was one of the first cellular phone dealers in the 1990’s and saw the explosion of cell phone use in Canada first-hand. In his younger life, Glenn was a scuba diver, built his own boat, did trick waterskiing and diving. He was a member of TOWARF, the Trafalgar Oakville Water and Air Rescue Force and used his expertise during Hurricane Hazel. Surprisingly, he married someone who couldn’t swim! Glenn will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a handyman extraordinaire and was active in creating McKenzie Park and its famous fireworks displays in the 1970’s. He loved road trips, meals out, being out on the water, holiday decorating and parties at the house. He was an award winning blood donor. Glenn will be greatly missed by his many friends. Thank you to all of our friends, caregivers and the staff at Lakeridge Health Centre for his excellent care in the last months of Glenn’s life. There will be no funeral but a CELEBRATION OF LIFE will take place at ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME (124 King Street E., Oshawa 905-433-4711) on Sunday May 7th, 2017 from 1 – 3pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Cancer Society. “You left us beautiful memories, your love is still our guide, and though we cannot see you, you’re always at our side.”
