She was such a sweet lady Bakker, Glenna Marie(nee Wilson) July 10, 1924-August 7, 2015 Peacefully, Glenna passed away in Oshawa on Friday. Predeceased by husband Jelle(2011) and brother William Wilson(1996). Cherished by her children Tom and his wife Terry, Louise and her husband Doug Libby, Jeff and his wife Cheryl. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Aaron & Willow, Christine & Nick, Jason & Crystal, Kevin & Sarah, Jennifer, Michael, Deborah & Kyle, Michelle & Matt. Proud Great-Grandmother of Sophia, Alexandra, Riker, Alivia. Born and raised in Oshawa and a long-time resident of Whitby. Life-time member of Simcoe Street United Church, continuing the family tradition of membership since the mid-1800s. Glenna was a very active participant and will be sadly missed by her church family. After graduating from Oshawa High School (now O’Neill) and Oshawa Business College, Glenna enjoyed her thirty-year career working for law firms in Oshawa, finally retiring in 1984. Thoroughly enjoyed spending many winters in Florida with Jelle, becoming active participants in the Travellers’ Rest snowbird community. Family and friends will be received at ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME(124 King St. E., Oshawa) Wednesday August 12th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. The service of “Celebration of her Life” will be held Thursday at 11:00am at Simcoe Street United Church followed by a reception at the Church. Interment will be Thursday afternoon at 1:30pm at Mount Lawn, all are welcome to join the family. Memorial donations may be made to Simcoe Street United Church and will be gratefully acknowledged.
