PHINN, John “Jack”

It is with great sadness in our hearts that the family of John Alexander Phinn announces his passing on December 27, 2015 at the age of 88 years.

Jack passed away peacefully in the Supportive Care Unit at Lakeridge Hospital in Oshawa. He was the beloved husband of Jean (nee: Blackmore) for over 62 wonderful years. Dear father of David (Dawna) and predeceased earlier this year by loving daughter Debra. Adoring grandfather to Michael (Liz), Daryl, Daniel and Nicole. Proud great-grandfather of Ava and Aiden.

Jack was born in Hamilton, Ont. and moved with his family to Oshawa in 1964. He had a successful career in Banking and Finance, eventually retiring from an executive position with Mackenzie Financial in Toronto. During these years Jack and Jean enjoyed numerous wonderful trips with their many friends and continued to cherish those memories together throughout their senior years.

Jack loved watching any and all sporting events and often had several TVs going so he and Jean wouldn’t miss their favorites even when playing at the same time. He was a lifelong fan of the Hamilton Tiger Cats and would rarely miss a game of his favorite Toronto Maple Leafs.

Jack will be dearly missed by his family and friends. We would like to send heartfelt thanks to the caring and compassionate professionals at Community Care for their support over the past year.

We will honour Jack’s wishes and forego funeral services. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lakeridge Hospital will be gratefully accepted.
