Chappell, Lynda Jean Johnston – It is with profound sadness the family of Lynda Chappell announce her passing on Tuesday January 5, 2016 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, after a courageous battle with cancer. Wife of the late Bruce Chappell. Beloved mother of Michelle (Kirk) Riley of Niagara, Ontario, Elizabeth (John) Driesbaugh of Athens, Pennsylvania, and Mark (Shannon Bernard) of Quispamsis, New Brunswick. Proud and loving Nana of Kyle, Sarah, Emma, Lucas and Alex Riley, and Matthew and Ryan Driesbaugh. Sister of Ian (Sharon Paul) Johnston, and Donna (Grant) Arnold. Predeceased by her brother Rob Johnston. Lynda will be greatly missed by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and extended family members. Lynda’s community involvement included Home and School President, St. David’s United Church, United Church Women’s member and president, Sunday school teacher, New Brunswick Liberal Association, St. John Real Estate Board and Village Clerk, Gondola Point. Her latter years were spent living with and enjoying time with her grandchildren in Ontario and Pennsylvania. A Memorial Celebration will take place on Saturday January 9, 2016 at 11 am at Simcoe Street United Church, 66 Simcoe Street South, Oshawa with a visitation and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Hearth Place Cancer Support Centre or R.S.
