SHARPE, May (nee Best) – peacefully after a brief but spirited illness on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. May was surrounded throughout this final phase of her journey over the past week by her loved husband of 48 years Robert Sharpe, her devoted sons Dr. Glen Sharpe (Dr. Tracey Curwen) and David Sharpe LLM, MBA (Dr. Natasha Sharpe). Robert, Glen and David are all members of the Tyendinaga First Nation. Also present with May were her dear and supportive sisters Linda Overkott (Frank), Maxine Russell (Doug) and Sandra Perry (Duncan). Reverend Duncan Perry guided May spiritually during this time. These family members were blessed with the special experience of sharing May’s final smile. May will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all her brothers and sisters (Harvey, Shirley, George, Hazel, Dan, and Fred), mother-in-law Gena Sharpe (nee Maracle), sister-in-law Suzanne Reid, her extended family and many dear friends. May spent the final year of her life with her inspiration, grandson Alexander Morris Sharpe. A Celebration of May’s Life will be held at a later date.
