Mykola Stek

In loving memory of Mykola Stek who passed away on Monday May 27 2013 at his home in Oshawa after a lengthy battle with heart disease. He was in his 91st year. Mykola worked at GM Canada for 38 years. He was an active participant in Oshawa's Ukrainian community, involving himself in both the cultural and spiritual aspect of his Ukrainian heritage. Mykola enjoyed bee keeping and kept many hives on the outskirts of town. He also wrote poetry which reflected his love of Ukraine. Mykola loved music and conducted several children’s, Ladies and male choirs in Oshawa. However he was best known for conducting the popular Ukrainian male choir "Burlaka" in Rochde, England prior to coming to Canada. Mykola will always be loved and remembered by his wife, Pauline, daughter Olga and husband Larry, grandson Adam; he will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Resting at The ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME 124 King St E, Oshawa there will be visitation on Friday May 31st from 2-4 and 7-9. Divine Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on June 1st at St George the Great Martyr Catholic Church at 10am. Memorial donations can be made in Mykola's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. Panachyda will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 7:30 pm.
