December 16, 1944 – July 2, 2017 Passed away with her loved ones by her side, after a long and courageous battle with cancer at the age of 72, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. Pat met the end of her life the same way she lived it – with incredible will and strength; a beautiful grace; and unbelievable sense of humour, and surrounded by those that loved her. She started her life in a small town in a small family consisting of her parents (Thelma “GiGi” Bruce and Grahame “Shuter” Bruce) and her “sizzer” (Kate Crockford) And as is her nature, she grew this family to include two wonderful and caring husbands (Keith Sheldon, Garry Burk, and all of their loving families) her children (Candice and Trent), and her grandchildren who she loved so much (Jadyn, Kiera, Connor, and Noah.) Last but not least she had a huge list of “other sons and daughters” that knew her love. Pat had an incredible talent for gathering people wherever she went and making them lifelong friends. She will be missed by this seemingly endless group of so many who never left her side. A special “Thank-You” to the remarkable nursing staff at Lakeridge Health Oshawa (6C and 5G). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are appreciated to the Durham Humane Society or the Canadian Cancer Society. A celebration of life is being planned for a later date.
