Radu Bala Oshawa, Ontario Obituary

Radu Bala

BALA, Radu – Peacefully on Tuesday February 27, 2018 at the age of 60. Radu, beloved husband for 39 years of Vera Bala (nee Popa). Much loved father of Cristian Bala (Rachel), Alexandra Steliga (Ryan), and Iulia Zwicker (Christopher). Proud grandpa of Timothy, Hope, Ethan, Bryce, Sophia and Charlotte. Dear brother of Rodica Bala (Ion Dragomir). Much loved son of Dochita Bala and the late Ioan Bala. Born in Romania, Radu arrived in Canada in 1987 with a desire to build a better life for his family. His story about leaving his home country has been told many times and although he fell in love with Canada, part of his heart remained back home, in the mountains and caves that he explored with his friends. Radu has never been one to stay still, always searching for something better and more interesting. That led him to learn multiple skills and work in various places, but the one he loved the most was teaching at Toronto School of Business. His personality got him in trouble sometimes, but if you became his friend, he was your friend for life. He passed on to his children his musical talents, his humour (nobody can tell jokes the way he did) and the love for food. Through his journey suffering with Dementia he loved being around happy people and he had the most contagious laughter. God allowed him to reach many milestones and when time came to say good-bye, he did so with no regrets - he lived life at the fullest and he did everything he wanted to do. Radu will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends in Canada, United States and Romania. Friends may call at the Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East, Oshawa, on Saturday March 3rd from 1-2pm. Memorial service in the chapel at 2pm. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Durham Region would be greatly appreciated by the family. To share an online condolence please visit www.armstrongfh.ca
