<p>Gay, Ronald Howard ”Ron” – Peacefully on Labour Day, Monday September 2nd, 2019, Ron passed away surrounded by his family after a long battle with Dementia, in his 80th year. </p><p><br></p><p>He leaves behind his loving wife Margaret Gay and the late Shirley. </p><p>Dear father of Rhonda, Candace and Jamie (Corrina). Beloved grandfather of Dylan, Kayla, Madelyn and Connor. Survived by his siblings Velma Johnson, Ted (Muriel), Linda Maleshev (Victor) and Gloria Foskett (the late Ron) predeceased by Earl, George, Ray, David, Helen, Jean, Doreen, June, Ruth, Arliss, Audrey &amp; Diane. Lovingly remembered by many family and friends. </p><p><br></p><p>Ron was a proud retiree from General Motors after 42.9 years of service. He was an active leader in the Union, CAW local 222 and Unifor, as committeeman and sick/accident and retirees representative. He served as a director for Autoworkers Community Credit Union for 20 years. Ron was incredibly active and led a busy life helping others at work, organizing sports teams and ensuring patients at Hospital for Sick Children received birthday and Christmas presents through the gate collection at the Truck Plant. Ron enjoyed his time at the trailer, on Pigeon Lake, fishing, camp fires and visits with the family were his most treasured memories. Golfing with the retirees was another favourite pastime. Ron was happiest when he had family and friends around. His door was always open and he loved to help anyone in need. </p><p><br></p><p>Please join with the family to Celebrate Ron’s life at Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East, Oshawa on Saturday September 7th from 2 pm to 5 pm. </p><p>In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Hospital for Sick Children would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
