Shaw, Wallace Donald It is with great sadness that the wife and family of Wallace Donald Shaw announce his passing, after a lengthy battle with cancer on May 17, 2010 at 68 years of age. Wally will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 45 years, Nancy (nee) Kerr and forever remembered by his children Stephen (Clara) from Cobourg, Heather from Oshawa and Trevor (Erica) from Mt. Isa, Queensland, Australia. Wally will be fondly remembered by his dear grandchildren, Julianna, Madeline & Charlotte from Oshawa, Ontario,. Gage, Chase, Willow and Meadow from Mt. Isa, Queensland, Australia and Cecilia from Cobourg, Ontario. Wally is survived by his mother Viola Shaw of North Vancouver, B.C.. sister Donna Proctor (Rob) of North Vancouver, sister-in-law Deborah Kerr and her husband (Olaf de Shield) of Burnaby, B.C. Predeceased by his father A. Victor Shaw, father-in-law Robert J. Kerr, mother-in-law Frances E. Kerr & brother-in-law Robert A. Kerr of North Vancouver, B.C. Wally served in the RCMP from August 02, 1961 to October 15th, 1982, when he retired to pension as Corporal Wallace D. Shaw. He trained in “depot” division Regina with “C” troop and added equitation as part of his new career. He served with “O” division in Toronto for his full service. His service included many different squads over his 21 years. President of Tapsco Alarms Ltd., Wally along with his wife and partner incorporated Tapsco Alarms Ltd. On March 25th, 1982 and were in business for 27 years. Born in North Vancouver, as a young man he attended North Vancouver High School. Wally had a passion for snooker, pool and skiing. After graduating he joined the RCMP and played various sports in the police association. Curling and Jujitsu were his interests at this time. He continued curling and started golfing after his retirement from the force. Wally was a member of the Oshawa Golf Club, Bowmanville and Dalewood in Port Hope. He remained a member of Oshawa Ski Club for many years. He enjoyed his golf trips south with clients and friends. Travel was his passion later in life and he had been to many continents. Proudly Canadian he enjoyed his “C” troop reunions with RCMP veterans and enjoyed reminiscing of his time in Halifax and Ottawa for two such reunions. Watching the Olympic Games on ski hills he grew up on were a magical time for Wally, taking him home once again to the Province he loved. The family would like to thank Dr. Richard Giroux for all of the many years you always have been there, not only for Wally, but all three generations of our family. You are truly a gift to our medical community. Candice your many kindness’ are also appreciated. A Celebration of Wally’s Life will be held at the Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East, Oshawa on Tuesday May 25th at 11am. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment service will be held at Thornton Cemetery.
