Ruth Edith Archer - Comforted in the love of her family, suddenly and unexpectedly passed on February 26, 2019, at the age of 80. Loving mother of Linda Archer, Juanita Burnett, Michael (Christina) Archer, and Greg Archer. Ruth was the doting mentor and loving grandmother of Candice (Andrew), Ashley (Chad), Nicole, Jamie (Sunci), and Olivia.

Ruth will be missed by her brother Toivo (Eini) Niemi, and sisters in law Ida Hehn, Charlene Archer and Brenda Rose. Ruth was also blessed with many nieces and nephews and was very close and dearly loved them all. Ruth is predeceased by siblings Roy (Marg) Niemi and Jorma (Elsie) Niemi and many in-laws.

A kind soul with a huge heart, Ruth was always available with an open welcoming door and a listening ear. Family felt at home when they arrived at Ruth’s door. Events such as Christmas and Easter were times to enjoy Ruth’s treats from the kitchen including turkey, pies and other special dessert treats. After dinner, the family enjoyed a game of Yahtzee or squaring off with Ruth, the dangerous Scrabble player, or maybe a tame game of Euchre. An avid reader to say the least, Ruth had a collection of books to rival her local library.

Ruth’s love extended beyond her close-knit family, being involved in the Thedford Legion Ladies Auxiliary for many years. Ruth was a huge animal lover as well, with cats and dogs being her special favourites.

A visitation will take place on Friday, March 29, from 7pm - 9pm and Saturday, March 30 from 10am - 11am at the Thedford Gilpin Funeral Home, 97 Victoria Street, followed by a service at 11am celebrating Ruth’s life and interment to take place at the Pinehill Cemetery. A light luncheon reception will follow at Thedford Legion.
