Obituary of Bertha McAllister McALLISTER, BERTHA MARIE (nee Babin) "Nana" - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bertha, peacefully, with her family at her side at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, on Monday, June 8th, 2015. Bertha of Peterborough in her 86th year. Bertha was the loving mother of Ann McAllister, Katherine (Chris Whiteley), and Blake McAllister. She will be remembered by her loving grandchildren, Justin and Taylor Whiteley. Also by her siblings; Raymond Babin (Lina), Vivian Lebreton (Al), Dick Babin (Terry) and many nieces, nephews and friends. Bertha is pre-deceased by her late husband Charlie McAllister, sons Robert and Bruce McAllister, brothers Cletus Babin, Hermel Babin, Gordon Babin and sisters Betty White, Patricia Babin, Bernice Hussey and Mary Corey. Born in Bathurst New Brunswick, Bertha met and married Charlie and together, because of Charlie's work in mining exploration, moved to Timmins, and then Sarnia. They retired to Bathurst NB, and then Bertha came to Peterborough to live closer to her family. Bertha was a wonderful Mom and Nana. She loved to knit and made dish cloths for everyone. Many will remember Bertha playing cards and recently playing on her iPad. She was proud of her razor sharp memory. A Celebration of Bertha's Life will be held at the ASHBURNHAM FUNERAL HOME & RECEPTION CENTRE, 840 Armour Road, on Saturday, June 13, at 3 pm.
