Obituary of Cecil Bowes BOWES, CECIL ALLAN - (WWII Veteran) Entered peacefully into the presence of Jesus, his Lord and Savior in his 92nd year at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Tuesday, October 28, 2014. Predeceased by his beloved wife Jean (ne´e Brown) in their 60th year of marriage. Loving and dearly loved Dad of Esther (Ted McNutt), Heather (Rob Luxton) and Eric (Tami). He will lovingly be remembered as a giving and fun Grandpa of Kirk Andrew (Cara), Krystal (Nick Gaspari), Jade McNutt and Brayden Bowes. New great grandson Korban Andrew brought him much joy. Beloved brother of Edna Jackson, Major Carl Bowes (Joyce), Grace Smith (Gord) and Myrtle Boes-Janusz and brother in law of Doris Bowes. Predeceased by his parents Charles and Edna Bowes, brothers Herb and Wallace, sisters Liz Storey (Albert), Arbie Holnbeck (Gord) and Ruth Wright (Bill). Also, sisters in law Betty Glenn (Clarence) and Ethel Bowes, brothers in law Wilf Jackson and Don Robinson. We thank God for the gift of Cecil, who enjoyed family and friendships and counted them as blessings. Dad's faith in God, courage and perseverance in his five years with cancer was an inspiration to us and others. As he kept his hope in Jesus and heaven and his sense of humor in the midst of it all, he just kept marching on, even when his legs could not. Like a good soldier, he fought the fight and when his time was up, he took his discharge Home. Family and friends will be received at the Peterborough Salvation Army Temple 219 Simcoe Street on Sunday, November 9th, 2014 from 1:30 -2:30 PM with a service at 2:30 PM followed by reception in the gymnasium.
