Obituary of David Walter Hunt After a brief illness, David Walter Hunt passed away on 4 April 2019 with family by his side. Born on 29 July 1955 to Margot (nee Louden) and Gordon Hunt, Dave grew up in Peterborough and on Gold Lake. He attended Adam Scott before moving on to post-secondary education at Ryerson College in Toronto. Dave was a man of style. He was a creative person, whose work and hobbies included photography, woodworking, construction and design. But of all that he had a hand in creating, he was most proud of his five children. Dave never missed an opportunity to tell others about his children’s successes. He loved his grandchildren deeply and relished his role as Papa. Dave was an avid reader, music fan, and self-professed film buff. Both teacher and student, his thirst for knowledge never ceased and he found joy in sharing what he learnt with others. A Renaissance man in love with a well-turned phrase, Dave was a magnetic personality with a lightness of being and a generosity of spirit. He loved people and people loved him. He made a lasting first impression with his charisma and unforgettable expressions such as “too cool, too cool,” “that’s so new wave,” and “you’re not right.” Dave is survived by his children: Jessica (Matt) George, Linz Hunt, Stefanie (Graeme) Kennedy, Kyle (Sam) Hunt, and Abbie (George) Derzekos; his siblings Moira (Richard) Brown, Gord (Suzanne) Hunt, and Andy (Donna) Hunt; his grandchildren Isla, Elouise, Ry, Jules, and Pema; and well-loved nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by siblings Kathy and Ian and his parents Margot and Gordon. The family would like to thank the staff at PRHC Intensive Care Unit for their incredible service in Dave’s last days. A private service will be held for family and close friends.
