Obituary of David Hendry Sinclair SINCLAIR, David "Dave" peacefully in the morning of Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at the age of 92 at Empress Gardens, Peterborough, Ontario. Dave was welcomed into the world as the 2nd son of four boys to his parents, the late (Captain, pilot WW1) Jim & Margery (nee Somerville) Sinclair in Smiths Falls on June 18, 1925. Dave worked on the CPR Boats out of Port McNichol during the 40's when he signed up with the forces from 1944-46 as a paratrooper. He attended Queen's University from 1947-50 where he met his wife, Sandy and were married in 1950. Together with their 4 children, they lived in Rexdale, Maple, Port Perry and retired to a home on the water at East Lake, PEC in 1985. Dave's working career was in the food, tea and coffee business as a Salesman, Sales Manager and National Customer Service Manager, working for Campbell Soup, General Mills, Tenco/Coca-Cola, Sandra Instant Coffee Company/Mother Parker's Tea & Coffee (Higgens & Burke), Ajax. Dave met Ivy Dick, while playing cards and together were close campanions; both enjoying dancing and avid Blue Jay fans. During his life, he also enjoyied auction sales and many card games like kanasta, bridge, and cribbage. Caning chairs at his home was his later passion but also enjoyed woodworking, furniture refinishing, stamp and coin collecting, bird watching, volunteer work at Picton Hospital and enjoyed the odd dram of Heather Cream. Dave was predeceased by his wife, Sandy (nee Melnyk) of 43 years; his campanion Ivy Dick (nee Chapman) 18 years of Picton; his eldest brother Ian, younger brothers Hughie and Robin (Judy Klyne) of Fort Frances; sister-in-laws; Johanna Seaman (Mississauga) and Freda Gamerschlag (Thunder Bay). Dave is survived by his children Donald (Sandra) of Oshawa; Ann MacDougall (Don) of Brighton, David of Peterborough and Scott (Natasha) of Orillia; 5 loving grandchidren: Leah, Ian, Holly, Owen and Katelyn (Cody); and 3 great grandchildren: Nathan, Jasper and Jaylynn; nephew and neice, Robbie ( Shelley) of Thunder Bay and Kathie (Lorne) of Fort Frances and great neices; Jaime, Lauren, Danielle and Sara. Special thank you to all the staff at Empress Gardens Retirement Residence in Peterborough for their exceptional caring and kindness over the last 5 years. Dave's wishes were to be cremated. A private family gathering will be in the spring at a beautiful place that holds special memories down in the county. HIs ashes will be spread amongst the trilliums by the lake where he will be with his wife, Sandy. We will all miss his smiling face and special wave. He will always be with us.
