Obituary of Doreen Beatrice McDougall

Doreen Beatrice McDougall (Wells). 1925-02-25 to 2019-11-15, wife of Clare McDougall (2003).

Doreen's life was one of love, faith and devotion. She enjoyed a long partnership with her loving husband of 53 years. Doreen was a devoted mother to Sandra Wilkie, Janet McDougall and Bill McDougall (Sheila Gillott). She was a very proud Nana, Step Nana and Great Nana to Matt Wilkie (Sarah Mitchell), Jenna McDougall, Brook Bell, Annabel Wilkie and Fife Wilkie. Sister of the late Maxine Seymour.

Doreen had tremendous artistic and creative talents. Her sewing and knitting projects, include knitting mittens for many school children, expanded in her retirement to explore interests in painting, sketching and stained glass. Many of these works are proudly displayed in her children’s homes.

Doreen enjoyed the close friendships she developed throughout her life; during her working years at Outboard Marine and her play time at the cottage on Pigeon Lake. Her love of sport, particularly in golf and curling, introduced her to lasting friendships that culminating in shared laughter, travel, shopping excursions and Friday night dinners.

Doreen loved life and lived it passionately, always eager for the next adventure or experience. She was artistic, elegant, bold and had a quick wit that kept us laughing and on our toes.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at both Royal Gardens, for the many years of kind support, and Fairhaven for their compassionate care during the past few weeks.

In honour of a life well lived, donations can be made to a charity of your choice at communityalternative.ca.

A private Memorial Mass will be held at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, where Doreen was a long-time member.
