Obituary of Dorthea Nelson NELSON, D. Gayle (nee Beavis) - At the Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Monday, October 6, 2014. Suddenly after a courageous battle with cancer with her loving family present. Gayle was the founder of the Otonabee South Monaghan Public Library, of which was named in her honour. She was very involved and a passionate member of the Otonabee South Monaghan Historical Society and life member of Keene United Church. Renowned Otonabee author writing two historical books "Forest to Farm" and her newest book "Keene. Member of the Peterborough Pathway of Fame and a very dedicated and enthusiastic resident of Peterborough County. Beloved wife of Jack Nelson. Dear mother of Douglas, predeceased by son Ian and daughter Margo. Cherished Nan of Angela, Colin (Jen) and great Nan of twins Ian and Blair and great granddaughter Georgia. Dear sister of Dianne McGregor. Dear sister-in-law of Marie Nelson, Peter Nelson and Julie (Brian Taylor). Fondly remembered by nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished friends. A memorial service and celebration of Gayle's life will be held at Keene United Church, 30 North Street, Keene, Ontario, on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 2:15 p.m. with a reception to follow in the Church Hall.
