Obituary of Gale Benson BENSON, Dr. Gale Thomas - It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Dr. Gale Thomas Benson on Saturday, October 26, 2013. Born in Vancouver, B.C. on August 17, 1946. He will be deeply missed by Janice, his wife of 44 years and his three adoring children: Kelly (Tyler Harris) of Vancouver, BC, Tara (Dan McDonald) from Williamstown, ON, Ted Benson of Vancouver Island, BC and five grandchildren: Sophie, Parker, Jack, Thomas and Liam. He was the only beloved son of Ethel and the late Tom Benson. Gale was passionate, dedicated and widely respected in his career as an Optometrist in the Peterborough community. His loss will be felt by many of his loyal patients whom he treated throughout his 44-year practice in the city. Gale's passions included skiing, photography, boating, biking, reading and cooking. He loved nothing more than to cook a nice meal with friends and family and then relax by the fireside. Gale will be forever loved, remembered and missed. Friends will be received at COMMUNITY ALTERNATIVE FUNERAL HOME - ASHBURNHAM CHAPEL 840 Armour Road from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, November 2, 2013. A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel at 2 p.m. followed by a reception in the Legacy Room.
