Obituary of George McCullough McCULLOUGH: George Wesley On Monday, November 29, 2010 at the age of 87. Wes, dearly beloved husband for 53 years of Betty Joan and dear father of David and his wife Hope, and Peter and his wife Roslyn Cluett. Beloved Grampa of McKenzie and Margaret McCullough, and Julia Cluett-McCullough. Survived by his sister-in-law Ruth and 8 nieces and nephews. Born in Navan, Ontario, educated at Navan, Ottawa Teacher's College, and Queens University. In 1942, Wes began his career teaching in an one room school in Cumberland Township No. 7 and subsequently at Glebe, Ottawa and West Hill, Owen Sound. Upon retirement in 1987, Wes taught 4 years in Lesotho, Africa with World University Services of Canada. After his return to Canada, Wes and Betty lived in Toronto, Norwood, and Peterborough. Wes was a life-long and Life Member of the CCF / NDP. His interests included bridge and the Stratford Festival, and he was a life-long sports fan. Friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Wes's Life to be held at the Kawartha Golf & Country Club, 777 Clonsilla Ave. (North of Lansdowne) on Saturday, December 18th from 1 p.m. Services to be held at 2 p.m. If desired, condolences to the family, directions to the celebration, and donations to the charity of your choice may be made at www.CommunityAlternative.ca or by calling COMMUNITY ALTERNATIVE FUNERAL HOME at 705-742-1875.
